Hello, everyone! I’m Vijay Vig, Participant Support Officer at Special Care Australia (SCA). I’m excited to share the whirlwind of experiences from our unforgettable week at the SCA Day Centre. We are committed to offering engaging, community-based programs that are tailored to the needs and interests of our participants. Here’s a look at how we’ve lived up to that commitment this past week.

Monday – Swimming Program 🏊♂️

We kicked off our week with a splash! Our swimming program is a fun and beneficial activity for our participants. Not only does swimming offer excellent physical exercise, but it also encourages confidence, camaraderie, and improves overall well-being. The energy and excitement in the pool were infectious!

Tuesday – A Day at Chadstone, The Fashion Capital 👗🛍

On Tuesday, we set out for Chadstone – The Fashion Capital of Melbourne. Our participants loved exploring the vast array of stores, admiring the latest fashion trends, and soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. Chadstone provided a fantastic opportunity to exercise independence, decision-making skills, and social interaction in a real-world setting.

Wednesday – Italian Dining Experience at La Aroma Italiano 🍝🇮🇹

Who doesn’t love the taste of Italy? On Wednesday, we indulged in an authentic Italian dining experience at La Aroma Italiano Restaurant. Our participants savoured the rich flavours of Italian cuisine, learned about food preparation, and relished the warm and welcoming ambiance. This outing provided a delightful cultural and sensory experience.

Thursday – Forest Walk at Margaret Lester Forest 🌲🚶♂️

Thursday found us immersed in nature with a rejuvenating walk through the Margaret Lester Forest. The trail, stemming from Grants Picnic Ground, led us through the heart of Sherbrooke’s cool temperate rainforest. Our participants were enchanted by the forest’s serene beauty and the opportunity to spot lyrebirds. It was a wonderful way to connect with nature and learn about the local ecosystem.

Friday – Indoor Camping at the Centre 🏕

We concluded the week with an exciting indoor camping experience right at our Day Centre. The camp-style setup, complete with tents and camping gear, fostered a sense of adventure. Our participants enjoyed sharing stories, playing games, and the unique feeling of camping at the day center.

This week at SCA’s Day Centre perfectly encapsulated our goal of providing our participants with diverse, enriching experiences. Each day brings new adventures and opportunities for learning, growth, and enjoyment.
